ABOUT ME
I did not always know that I wanted to be a teacher. I made that realization midway through my undergraduate work when I enrolled in an introductory education course. I loved it and couldn't wait to learn more. I earned my B.A. in Elementary Education and Psychology from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 1990. At that time, there were very few teaching positions open, so I landed my first job in a special education classroom at the Villa of Hope in Greece, NY. It was a great experience, one that led me to pursue a graduate degree in special education. I was fascinated by creating environments that support the strengths and needs of each individual student. I went on to earn my M.A. and PhD in Special Education at Michigan State University. My doctoral work focused on inclusive education through policy, law and school reform. Over the course of my career, I have taught preschool through higher education in all types of settings.
